Our Mission

At BlackFULLness, we’re here to disrupt the myth that mindfulness is only for the privileged, the perfect, or the perfectly still. We believe mindfulness belongs to all of us — especially those of us who’ve carried the heaviest loads for far too long.

Our mission is to bring mindfulness home to the people — by teaching what it is and what it can be. We support folks who are brand new to the practice and those looking to deepen, stretch, and elevate their current path. We do this by:

  • Making mindfulness make sense ― with tech that’s intuitive, fun, and designed with our culture in mind
  • Honoring what we already know ― curating practices that help our people see their lived traditions as mindfulness in motion
  • Creating brave and sacred spaces ― where healing can happen individually and collectively

This isn’t just about meditation. It’s about liberation. It’s about reclaiming rest, softness, clarity, and joy — and doing it together.

Our Founders

Rev. Sonia Raye Russell

CEO | Mindful Badass | Unapologetic Optimist | Mother | Reverend

Sonia uses her obsession with technology and passion for mindfulness to organize and harmonize almost every aspect of her life. She has been a black woman her whole life, a small business owner for nearly 20 years, and an active leader for more than a decade. Her consistent mindfulness practices and frequent productive use of technology help her to effectively manage stress, consciously parent her powerful daughter, and to skillfully and successfully design, build, cultivate and grow containers where amazing things happen.

Our Philosophy

We’ve witnessed the brilliance and resilience of the Black community in the face of constant stress.
We also know the power of turning inward—of calming the mind, easing anxiety, and building self-awareness.
At BlackFULLness, we believe healing the individual strengthens the collective.
By cultivating mindfulness, we create a stronger, wiser, more resilient world—starting with us.
